Meet your English speaking driver at the hotel and leave Fes for Merzouga. Experience dynamic views of cedar woods and visit the Barbary Apes. Then roam through the excellent and scenic Midelt on the road to the Sahara. Go through the Ziz valley and view the oasis of Erfoud which offers astonishing photographic opportunities. Arrive to Merzouga in the evening for your overnight in the lodging at the edge of the Sahara.
Erg Chebbi dunes are large sand-ocean which definitely marks the begin of an authentic Sahara experience, a portion of these sandy ridges rise to over 245 meters. The shades of the rising and setting sun over these hills make a genuinely magical experience. Value a relaxed morning before your driver meet you and drive you to meet your guide and camel. Your guide will take you into the Sahara, around a hour ½ – 2 hours ride by camel. When you reach your bivouac you can climb the dunes or simply do stargazing while your guide arranges your night dinner.
Rise up early to see the astonishing dawn over the ridges; at that point come back to the hotel for your breakfast before departing to the Todra Gorge and Tinehir and at last the Dades Gorge. One of the features of the South is the massive fault in the plateau that divides the High Atlas from the Jebel Sarhro, called the Todra Gorges. The clear river coming from the profound ochre and pink rock formations offer an emotional scene and incredible photographic opportunities. The Dades Gorges is best explored by walking through it, so ensure you take some time for a short hike to take in the valleys for a dusk view of the palmeries and Dades River which valley along the gorges.
On your last day experience the delightful Valley of the Roses and La Palmerie Skoura. Then back through the Middle Atlas Mountains, Midelt and Azrou, before dropping you off in Fez riad/hotel.
